LGPS Central has appointed Bronte Somes and Kavita Patel as Non-Executive Directors.

The appointments bring investment, legal, regulatory and governance experience to support the Board’s oversight of LGPS Central’s strategic direction and performance on behalf of its Partner Funds.

Bronte Somes has more than two decades of experience across infrastructure investment, private markets, asset management and investment banking. She is also an independent Non-Executive Director of USS Investment Management Limited (USSIM).

Bronte previously spent more than 20 years at UBS. As head of infrastructure equity across Europe within UBS Asset Management’s Real Estate and Private Markets business, she was responsible for originating and executing infrastructure transactions and managing investments across a range of European markets. Earlier in her career, she advised clients on infrastructure transactions through UBS Investment Bank. She also served as an investor director on a number of investee company boards.

Kavita Patel is a qualified lawyer and experienced Non-Executive Director with extensive expertise in corporate finance, regulatory and governance matters. She spent 25 years at Shakespeare Martineau, including as a Corporate Partner and Head of Investment Funds. During this time, she advised a broad range of clients on corporate finance, regulatory and governance matters, as well as being an investment funds specialist advising retail and institutional financial services clients.

Kavita Patel is also Non-Executive Director and Chair of Foresight Enterprise VCT plc and a Non-Executive Director of AEW UK REIT plc. She previously served as a Non-Executive Director of Nottingham Building Society, where she was also the Board’s Consumer Duty Champion.
